As per the research fnding s, many issues have been identfed in Early Childhood Development Sector for many decades in Sri Lanka. The following fve key thematc areas are very important in preparaton of a Natonal Plan for Early Childhood Care and Development (NPECCD) of Sri Lanka. Policies, Systems and Structures of ECD, Access to Early Childhood Development, Quality Improvement of ECD, Health, Nutriton, Safety, Monitoring and Evaluaton of ECD. Therefore, afer a long consultaton process The World Bank designed and implemented a fve years project for the improvement of the Early Childhood Development in Sri Lanka to be ensuring equal access on quality ECD Service covering all areas of the country between 2015 to 2020. Facility improvements in ECD centers and knowledge, skills development systems are introduced through this Early Childhood Development Project (World Bank assisted) in Sri Lanka. It is obvious that foundaton of personality development of an individual is laid down during the frst fve years of a kid. Based on the recent research fndings, through developmental domains of a child, such as social, emotonal, cognitve, and physical are more important for lifelong learning and well being are improved during this period and managed the balanced personality. Furthermore, as per the reports in Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Educaton and Child Protecton, it is a tring need of genuine interventon on Early Childhood care and Development in the country.

It has been identfed a contnued need for a mechanism to promote ECD sector afer the World Bank funded ECD project in Sri Lanka. At this juncture a team of veterans and experienced professionals understood need a natonal initatve to improve the Early Childhood Development in the country. Therefore, they had a lengthy discussion in order to set up a genuine organizaton to contnue actons started by World Bank for the improvement of Early Childhood sector in Sri Lanka. Therefore, it was forced to set up Startng Right Global Network for the improvement of Early Childhood Development sector with wider coverage, in order to address for most important key issues in the ECD sector of the country.
