Starting Right...

Starting Right Global Network is the organization which was setup to continue ECD actions started by World Bank for the improvement of Early Childhood sector in Sri Lanka. Then main role of Starting Right to enhance the knowledge, skills and capacities of humane recourses in the ECD sector while addressing key issue of Early Childhood Development sector with wider coverage in collaboration with private and public partnership.

SRGN has been initated an advocacy for private and public partners in communitess worldwide and works with comprehensive approach discourse through nearby training gatherings. These groups are convinced that every partnerss voice is heard to be informed policy dialogue and strengthen educaton systems.

SRGN to initiate interventions to promote Early Childhood actions in holistic manner such as enhancing skills, knowledge, attitudes and competencies of ECD Sector human resource personals based on accepted national quality standards. Here SRGN act as resource hub of Ealy Childhood literature, guidelines, standards while performing key the role in mobilizing relevant stakeholders for joint approach in maintaining quality ECD Practices..

SRGN supports and facilitates to conduct researches and projects in Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) and Early Childhood Educaton (ECE) sector, which supports country to identfy children who are lef the schools, the barriers to access, policies and programs that can be removed these barriers. Why Are We ?

Professor J. J. Heckman

It has been proved more than 95% of the brain development of a child is completed by 5 years of age and the Early Childhood period is very crucial in child development process. According to a study on the rate of return of investment is 1: 9 US $, which was conducted by Professor J.J.Heckman in Perry High School in Chicago USA in year 2004, It has been revealed that the best age group is for educatonal investment is from 0- 5 years of age.

Our Regional Centers

SRGN has been setup its Island wide regional centers, which cater to the needs of its benefciaries in improving ECD infrastructure, capacity building initatves and development of Early Childhood Children. Especially these regional centers are made use of implementng of capacity building initatves physically. In future SRGN hopes to establish its regional centers in order to make the interventons are more efficient and in quality manner.

Diploma in Preschool Education

This course is for newly enrolled preschool teachers and just afer A/L school Leavers who expect to enter Preschool sector in Sri Lanka and overseas. Here it has been designed to enhance skills, knowledge and capacites of preschool teachers and internatonally recognized certfcated will be awarded students who complete the course successfully.

The courses are conducted both in weekdays and weekends at regional centers as per the convenience of students.

Diploma in Special Education

This course has been designed for preschool teachers, teachers, just afer A/L school Leavers who expect to enter childcare sector locally and internatonally. Through this course a required theoretcal knowledge and practcal exposures will be provided.

Short course for NVQ Level -4 (RPL)

This course has been designed for preschool teachers who are having experience more than four years and expect to sit for NVQ Level - 4 Examinaton which is conducted by Tertary Vocatonal Educaton Commission in RPL method.

The course is conducted to prepare the students through online for writen examinaton. Afer being successful in writen examinaton students are oriented for physical assessment through onsite workshop.

Diploma in Counselling

This course is for preschool teachers, teachers, parents and other feld staf and just afer A/L school Leavers to enhance the skills in their day today work. Mainly lectures will be conducted online during evening tme while few practcal sessions will be conducted onsite at our regional centers. This course has been designed specially on how to work with children with child friendly environment, child management, happy parentng.

The courses are conducted both in weekdays and weekends online as per convenience of students while practcal sessions are conducted at regional centers.

Diploma in English for Preschool Education

This course has been designed for preschool teachers to promote English language in preschool educaton in line with Sri Lankan governmentss initatve of transforming English language base educaton. This course is comprised of Grammar and practcal components.

Afer being successful in writen examinaton students are oriented for physical assessment through onsite workshop.
